What is this?

We exist to help families and couples in Burnley, Pendle and Hyndburn feel the therapeutic benefits of short breaks and holidays, who could otherwise not make it away. 

Our Breakers are either pulling themselves out of difficult times, are serving the public good at the expense of themselves or who dedicate their lives to full time care.

Most of us take it for granted that we’ll get away each year. Putting aside the financial aspect, we don’t even take into account how much this regular break enriches our lives and allows us to manage our own mental state.

Staycation

Do I qualify?

You’ll qualify if you live in Burnley, Pendle or Hyndburn and can demonstrate one of the following:

1. Overcoming difficult times

Examples include:

  • Recovering from illness, trauma, or bereavement

  • Struggling due to cost of living pressures or low income

  • Working full-time but unable to afford a break

  • Receiving means-tested benefits (optional evidence of hardship, not a requirement)

2. Serving the public good

Examples include:

  • Full-time voluntary or charity work

  • An extraordinary act of bravery or generosity

  • Consistently helping others at personal cost

3. Providing full-time care

Examples include:

  • Acting as an unpaid carer

  • Recent bereavement of a care recipient

  • Caring commitments that make breaks unaffordable or impossible

Plus:

  • You can demonstrate that this holiday would not otherwise be possible

  • Demonstrate that no such break has happened in the previous 12 months
